In a remarkable gesture of patriotism, #Sitamarhi MP Devesh Chandra Thakur has donated his entire one-year salary of ₹15 lakh to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) in support of Indian soldiers.

This contribution comes in the wake of escalating India-Pakistan tensions and as a response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, where Pakistani militants brutally killed Indian tourists after identifying their religion. Deeply moved by the tragedy and inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, Thakur stated that his donation is aimed at boosting the morale of the brave soldiers and honoring the sacrifice of the affected families.

The country was shaken by the Pahalgam massacre. Our sisters and daughters were widowed. Prime Minister Modi gave them dignity with ‘Operation Sindoor’. I express my gratitude to him,” said MP Thakur.
“As a tribute to our armed forces, I am donating my one-year MP salary of ₹15 lakh to the PMNRF. This is just the beginning — many more will come forward in support.”

Thakur proudly noted that this initiative began from the land of Goddess Sita, symbolizing Bihar’s commitment to national service. He also extended his congratulations to Wing Commander Vimika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, praising their valor in striking down nine terrorist camps in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor.

This is the first known donation to the PM National Relief Fund by a public representative during the ongoing conflict, setting an example for others to follow.

Local leaders and citizens from Bihar, especially Sitamarhi, have lauded the MP’s decision. Present at the occasion were senior JDU leader and advocate JP Senani Vimal Shukla, BJP leader and former Zila Parishad Vice-President Devendra Sah, and NDA leaders including Arun Kumar Pathak, Arun Gop, Kamini Patel, and Aditya Mishra.
