The 55th birthday of five-time World Chess Champion and India’s first Grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand, was celebrated with enthusiasm by Chandan Chess Academy (CCA) on Wednesday in C.H. Area. 

The event honored Anand’s remarkable contributions to chess and brought together students, chess enthusiasts, and distinguished guests. Purabi Ghosh, social worker and Joint Secretary of East Singhbhum District Chess Academy, served as Chief Guest and cut the birthday cake. 

International Arbiter and Head Chess Coach of CCA, Chandan Kumar Prasad
, praised Anand, calling him a global inspiration for chess players. Prasad shared a personal memory of meeting Anand in 2020, describing it as a cherished moment. 

The celebration included budding chess talents like Sanvi Gandhi, Souryadipta Sarkar, and Kaavya Mandal, showcasing the deep impact Anand has on the next generation of players. 

Attendees highlighted Anand’s role as a trailblazer in Indian chess, celebrating his legacy and inspiring journey in the sport.
