The 4th edition of the Cinematech International Film Festival (CIFF) took place on December 10th and 11th, 2024, at the Mumbai Institute of Film & Television Arts & Cinematech Film Institute, located in Mira Road East, Mumbai. The festival brought together filmmakers, actors, and cinema enthusiasts to celebrate outstanding works of art from around the globe.

– Best Short Film (National): “Thursday Special” by Varun Tandon (India)
– Best Short Film (International): “Claimant” by Nadereh Sadat Serki (Iran)
– Best Documentary (Feature Length): “Matarife La Película” by Daniel Mendoza Leal (Colombia)
– Cinematech Excellence Award Recipients:
– “Verflechtung” by Philip Hofmänner and Simon Jonas Pflanzer (Switzerland)
– “The Lost Man” by Quốc Thắng Vũ (Vietnam)
– “Cabrales” by Sergio Morcillo (Spain)
The festival also spotlighted emerging filmmakers, honoring Best Student Short Films, including Parisal Kanavu by Dinesh D. and Oru Adhikaalai by Hariharasudhan K., both from India.
Special Guests and Launches:
Renowned Marathi actor Pandharinath Kamble graced the event as the Chief Guest, offering inspiring insights into the importance of fostering creativity. The festival also marked the inauguration of the Cinematech Film Institute which aims to provide advanced courses in filmmaking, acting, and direction, with a focus on incorporating AI technologies into cinema.
