In a powerful demonstration, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Odisha, staged a protest by burning effigies of the Chief Minister and the Education Minister. The protest was held in response to the tragic suicides of two Nepali female students at KIIT University within the span of three months.
NSUI questioned the government’s inaction, demanding to know: “Why have the culprits not been punished? How long will students in Odisha continue to die by suicide?”
The student body called for an impartial investigation into the incidents and urged the government to take strict action against those found responsible.
