XLRI Jamshedpur, a prominent management institute, faces allegations from Devayan Chakraborty, a student enrolled in the “Executive Diploma in Human Resource Management” program for the 2021-22 session. Through his lawyer, Ravishankar Pandey, Chakraborty has served a legal notice seeking 20 lakh rupees in compensation, citing lapses in providing essential study materials and exam information despite high fees.

Chakraborty reportedly missed a paper in the first semester due to health issues and later paid an additional fee of 20,000 rupees to retake the subject. However, he claims the institute did not provide study materials, class schedules, or project guidance as expected.

The notice also mentions that Chakraborty was not informed in advance about the exam scheduled for April 22, 2024, which led to last-minute difficulties in reaching the venue. Further, he faced login issues on the student portal, missing important exam details. Upon arriving at the examination hall, he states that the invigilator was unaware of his attendance, leading to emotional stress that, he alleges, impacted his exam performance.
