Central Government Reimposes AFSPA in Manipur’s Five Districts Amid Fresh Violence and Law-and-Order Concerns

Amid recent violence and deteriorating law and order in Manipur, the Central Government has taken a significant step by re-imposing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in five districts. These include Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, and Bishnupur. These districts have now been designated as “disturbed areas,” bringing them back under AFSPA regulations. It is notable that these regions were previously exempted from the AFSPA notification issued on October 1, 2024, for a period of six months.
