In Chaibasa, the police confiscated Rs. 1.95 lakh in cash during a routine vehicle inspection. The inspection was conducted on the instructions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar as part of security measures to ensure a peaceful and fear-free environment for the upcoming state assembly elections. To prevent any untoward incidents and unauthorized cash flow, inter-state and inter-district check posts are actively monitored across different police stations in the district.
During one such inspection on Friday, the Static Surveillance Team (SST) seized Rs. 1.95 lakh in cash from a scooter’s handle-mounted bag at the interstate check post in Jaitgarh, under the Jagannathpur police station jurisdiction. Authorities intercepted the scooter for a routine check and discovered the cash, which was unaccounted for.
The police have initiated further inquiries to determine the source and intended use of the money, with a focus on preventing potential misuse of funds during the election period. Security has been tightened, and officials are working in coordination with neighboring states to monitor cross-border movement. The SP has emphasized the department’s commitment to maintaining a secure and fair election atmosphere in Chaibasa and neighboring regions.
