The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has dismissed Constable Munir Ahmad of the 41st Battalion for marrying a Pakistani woman, Minal Khan, citing violations of service conduct and potential national security threats.
According to reports, Munir Ahmad, a resident of Handwal village near Rabta Tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly married Minal Khan, a resident of Sialkot, Pakistan, in an online ceremony in May 2024. Minal entered India on a short-term visa in March 2025 and later applied for a long-term visa, which is still pending approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
CRPF stated that Munir allowed Minal to stay in India illegally even after her visa expired, violating immigration norms. The issue came to light after the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, following which the central government suspended all Pakistani visas. Minal Khan also received a notice to leave the country.
To prevent her deportation, Munir had filed a petition in the Bhalwal Court in Jammu, stating their marriage was legitimate. Though the court did not order her deportation, the matter drew media attention, prompting CRPF to take disciplinary action against Munir.
Authorities emphasized that his actions posed a risk to national security and were against CRPF service regulations.
