Amid the ongoing Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again conducted significant raids in Ranchi, Jharkhand’s capital. Early Tuesday morning, ED teams raided the premises of senior IAS officer Vinay Chaubey, who serves as the Joint Secretary of the Excise Department, along with locations associated with his close associates. The raid is linked to the ongoing investigation into the liquor scam, which has already revealed several critical findings.
The investigation originated in Chhattisgarh, where the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed a First Information Report (FIR) against then-Excise Secretary Vinay Kumar Chaubey and Joint Secretary Gajendra Singh, alleging their involvement in the scam. This complaint, filed by Ranchi resident Vikas Kumar in Raipur, claimed that the entire conspiracy around the liquor scam was planned in Raipur, including manipulations made to the excise policy as part of the scheme.
