Ranchi | August 5, 2025 — An era came to an emotional end as thousands gathered to pay their last respects to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the legendary tribal leader and founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), who passed away recently.
Fondly known as “Dishom Guru”, Shibu Soren was not just a political figure but a symbol of tribal pride, justice, and the struggle for Jharkhand’s identity. His funeral witnessed the presence of political leaders, party workers, social activists, and emotional citizens from across the state and beyond.
The mortal remains of the great leader were taken in a grand procession, with chants of “Dishom Guru Amar Rahe” echoing in the air. The state government declared official mourning and paid full state honors during the cremation ceremony.
Shibu Soren’s contribution to the formation of Jharkhand and his decades-long fight for tribal rights will forever be remembered. He leaves behind a legacy that has deeply shaped the political and cultural landscape of the state.
