The Rhodes Trust has named five students from Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand as Rhodes Scholars for 2025. The scholarship, based at Oxford University, recognizes students with academic excellence and commitment to positive change.
Among the selected are Rayan Chakrabarti from JNU, aiming to document the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact in South Asia; Vibha Swaminathan from NLSIU Bengaluru, focusing on citizenship and human rights; visually impaired Avanish Vats from Ranchi, with interests in accessible philosophy; Shubham Narwal, a veterinary science student from UP, working on conservation; and Pal Aggarwal from IIT Bombay, aspiring to study astrophysics and advocate for women in science.
