Jamshedpur – Amid the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, the wave of resignations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues, fueled by discontent over the party’s candidate list. Adding to this list is former IPS officer and BJP leader from Jamshedpur, Rajeev Ranjan Singh. Singh, who has been an active BJP leader in the Jamshedpur West Assembly constituency, announced his resignation from the party’s primary membership during a press conference on Wednesday.
Rajeev Ranjan Singh sent his resignation letter to the BJP’s state president, Babulal Marandi, stating that he had joined the BJP around a year and a half ago. However, due to not receiving a ticket for the upcoming elections, he has decided to part ways with the party. Singh leveled serious allegations against the BJP, criticizing the dominance of nepotism and significant shifts in its policies. He claimed that the party has strayed from its core principles and the ideals of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
According to Singh, the prevalence of family-based favoritism in ticket distribution shows that the party is acting contrary to its founding principles. He stated that his resignation was a forced decision, as he had grown dissatisfied with the current functioning of the BJP. He also commended other workers who, in the face of the current situation, resigned while upholding the principles of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Singh described his resignation as an attempt to “hold up a mirror” to the BJP, urging the party to reflect on its current direction.
