Jio, BSNL, and Airtel users can now make calls and access 4G services using any available network, even if their own SIM loses signal. This breakthrough comes as the central government introduces the Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) system, allowing telecom users to access 4G networks funded by the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN).
Under the ICR initiative, telecom companies will share infrastructure on government-funded mobile towers, enabling customers to connect to 4G services from a single tower, irrespective of their service provider. This reduces the need for multiple towers while ensuring seamless connectivity.
The initiative covers approximately 27,836 DBN-funded sites and aims to improve 4G connectivity for over 35,400 rural and remote villages. The project, launched by Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, ensures that networks from BSNL, Jio, and Airtel are accessible in areas where DBN towers are operational.
