Jharkhand has been witnessing continuous rainfall since Wednesday, and the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several districts in the next 24 hours.

In Dhanbad, the downpour has brought much-needed relief from the intense heat. Meanwhile, the water level in the Maithon Dam has started rising steadily.

In view of the increasing water level, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has opened two gates and a gallery of the Maithon Dam to regulate the flow.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and residents in low-lying areas are advised to remain alert.
