Bihar is set to become the first state in India to host five Coca-Cola plants, with plans to establish four new bottling facilities. This expansion will require approximately 240 acres of land and an estimated investment of ₹4,500 crore.
Locations Under Consideration
Land is being identified across 20 districts, including Purnia, Kishanganj, Jamui, Katihar, Darbhanga, Khagaria, West Champaran, Samastipur, and Madhepura. Four final locations will be selected for the plants.
Employment Opportunities
The new facilities are expected to create direct employment for 70,000 individuals and indirect opportunities for an additional 2.3 lakh people, significantly boosting job creation in the region.
Regional and International Supply
Once operational, these plants will supply Coca-Cola products, including soft drinks, water, and juices, to 45 districts in Uttar Pradesh, as well as to neighboring states Jharkhand and West Bengal. Bihar’s strategic road network will enable exports to Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
Products will also reach ports in Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, and Goa (Mormugao) via the Bihta container depot for international export to markets like Oman, Maldives, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, China, Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
Existing Plant
Bihar currently hosts a Coca-Cola bottling facility in Nawanagar, Buxar, spread over 65 acres and built at a cost of ₹1,235 crore.
This expansion marks a significant milestone in Bihar’s industrial growth and promises substantial economic benefits for the state.
