The Income Tax Department conducted raids on about a dozen locations of prominent steel and scrap traders in Jamshedpur, early this morning. The operation reportedly targets the premises of businessmen Sanjay Bhalotia, Raju Bhalotia, Sanjay Palsania, and other scrap dealers. The raids began around 6:00 a.m. following intelligence on undisclosed income and various financial discrepancies. Locations in Jamshedpur, including CH Area, Sakchi, Bistupur, Jugsalai, and Adityapur Industrial Area, were all targeted.
It is understood that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is assisting in the operation to trace illicit income sources. Details of the findings are yet to be disclosed.
