Jamshedpur Police has uncovered an illegal mini gun factory in the Daiguttu area under the Mango police station jurisdiction. In a significant operation, police apprehended arms paddlers Govind Sharma and Gopal Sahu. Authorities seized a country-made pistol and tools used for manufacturing weapons from their hideout. The case was disclosed by DSP Headquarters-1, Bhola Prasad, on Saturday.
Action Based on Tip-Off
DSP Bhola Prasad revealed that the police acted on a tip-off regarding an illegal gun manufacturing unit operating in Daiguttu. To nab the culprits, officers posed as buyers and contacted Govind. A raid was subsequently conducted at his residence, leading to the recovery of a country-made pistol and weapon-making tools.
Deal Worth ₹45,000
Investigations revealed that Govind specialized in manufacturing weapons, while Gopal was responsible for selling them. Gopal had negotiated a deal with a customer for ₹45,000, agreeing to buy the pistol from Govind for ₹30,000. An advance payment of ₹2,000 had already been made to Govind.
Repeat Offenders
Further investigations found that Govind had been previously arrested in 2018 for similar charges related to the manufacture and sale of illegal arms. Gopal also has a criminal history, with cases involving assault and other offenses. Police are currently searching for the buyer to whom the weapon was to be sold.
This operation highlights the vigilance of Jamshedpur Police in curbing illegal activities in the city.
