Tokyo – In a groundbreaking achievement, Japan has set a new world record in internet technology by reaching an unprecedented data transmission speed of 10,200,000 gigabits per second (Gbps).
At this mind-blowing speed, one could download Netflix’s entire library or over 10,000 4K movies in just one second. A 150 GB game could be downloaded in just 3 milliseconds.
Compared to India’s average internet speed of 63.55 Mbps, this new speed is roughly 16 million times faster. It is also 3.5 million times faster than the average internet speed in the United States.
Notably, Japan held the previous record too — in March 2024, researchers achieved 402 terabits per second (50,250 Gbps) using standard optical fiber cables.
This latest breakthrough indicates that ultra-high-speed internet is not just a dream of the future — it’s arriving faster than ever imagined.
