On May 15, 2025, the Jharkhand State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved 17 key proposals, including the New Excise Policy 2025, a health scheme for senior citizens, and increased daily allowances for NCC cadets.

Retail liquor sales will now be handed over to private entities, while wholesale distribution will remain under Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Ltd. (JSBCL).

A total of 1,453 liquor shops across the state will be allocated through a lottery system.

The policy will be implemented within a month.

Ayushman Bharat – Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana for Senior Citizens:
Citizens aged 70 and above will now be included under the scheme and will receive health insurance coverage up to ₹5 lakh per year.

This decision will benefit an estimated 3.84 lakh new families in the state.

New Excise (Liquor) Policy 2025:

₹76.63 crore sanctioned for the Madhupur Urban Water Supply Scheme.

₹10.70 crore approved under the Jharkhand Municipal Development Project.

₹55.20 crore approved for road construction projects in Giridih district.

Schindler India Pvt. Ltd. appointed for elevator maintenance in medical colleges in Hazaribagh, Dumka, and Palamu.

Approval of the Factories (Jharkhand Amendment) Bill 2025, allowing employees to work up to 125 overtime hours in 3 months.

Approval of the Jharkhand Jail Manual 2025, aimed at modernizing the prison system.

These decisions are expected to bring administrative efficiency, better public services, and infrastructural improvements across Jharkhand.
