Jamshedpur: Newly elected Jamshedpur East MLA, Purnima Das Sahu, has taken a significant step towards fulfilling her election promises by prioritizing the long-pending Babudih Lal Bhatta Water Supply Project. On Monday, she held a detailed meeting with senior officials from Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) in Babudih Basti to expedite the work.
The MLA had earlier met Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, on November 28, requesting accelerated progress on various water supply projects, including the Moharda scheme and initiatives in Bagunhatu and Babudih. During the meeting, she directed the officials to complete the Babudih Lal Bhatta project within 90 days, emphasizing that no negligence would be tolerated in the execution of the work.
Purnima Das Sahu highlighted that while the project was inaugurated in 2018, it had faced unnecessary delays and stressed that it must be completed without further postponements. She instructed officials to start laying the pipelines within two days and ensure the supply of clean water to every household in the area.
Currently, the residents of Babudih Lal Bhatta depend on tanker water supply, which was recently discontinued by JNAC. The MLA ordered the immediate resumption of tanker services, clarifying that it should continue until the pipelines are operational.
The officials assured that the pipeline work would commence within two days, promising to meet the timeline. Expressing gratitude to the Tata Steel UISL management, the MLA congratulated the residents for the progress made on the project.
The meeting witnessed the presence of a large number of local residents, including Dhanraj Gupta, Bhola Sahu, Raju Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Amarinder Kumar, Shuru Kalindi, Prakash Sudhir, Mohan Sahu, Pinky, Sangeeta, Vinay Gupta, and senior officials from Tata Steel UISL.
The Babudih Lal Bhatta project aims to provide clean water to every home, a critical need in the area, and is a significant step towards improving the quality of life for its residents.
