On December 5, 2024, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, East Singhbhum, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Karim City College, observed International Volunteer Day with a cleanliness drive at Dimna Lake and its surrounding areas.
The event witnessed participation from notable dignitaries, including District Youth Officer Anjali Kumari from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, Dr. B.K. Singh, Finance Officer of Kolhan University, Dr. Ale Ali, NSS Program Officer, Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Head of the Examination Department, Tanveer Kazmi, and NSS Coordinator Syed Sajid Parwez. NSS volunteers also actively took part in the campaign.
The cleanliness drive involved several activities, starting with the collection of waste from roads and public spaces. Volunteers segregated the waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories for proper disposal. The initiative included cleaning the main roads and reservoirs, enhancing the area’s beauty while contributing to environmental sustainability.
In addition to cleaning activities, posters and banners were displayed to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness. Volunteers encouraged locals to adopt proper waste disposal methods and reduce the use of plastic, promoting a healthier and cleaner environment.
This initiative highlighted the spirit of volunteerism and the collective effort to create a better, cleaner community.
