Actor and politician Pawan Kalyan has voiced his concern regarding the issue of expired Amazon gift cards, which leads to users losing their hard-earned money. Highlighting the problem through a social media post, Pawan Kalyan revealed that even his office has experienced the loss of balances from expired gift cards, emphasizing the broader implications for millions of users across India.

“Over 295 million Indians actively use e-commerce platforms, with 1 billion+ gift cards purchased on Amazon India alone,” he stated, underlining the scale of the issue. Pawan Kalyan also reminded platforms of the Reserve Bank of India’s guidelines on Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs), which mandate a minimum validity of one year and prior notice before deactivating dormant accounts. Moreover, these balances should either be refunded to the source or transferred to a KYC-linked bank account.

He urged e-commerce platforms to ensure greater transparency and fairness in handling such cases, protecting consumers from avoidable losses. His call to action has resonated with many, as users increasingly demand accountability from digital platforms.
