Peda is a popular Indian sweet, especially made during festivals and special occasions. This sweet is made from milk and sugar, and it has a delightful taste. Here’s a detailed recipe to make Peda at home.
Ingredients:
- Khoya (mawa) – 250 grams
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 1/2 cup (adjust to taste)
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Ghee – 2 tablespoons
- Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) – for garnish (optional)
Method:
1. Preparing Khoya
- In a non-stick pan, add the khoya and roast it on low heat until it turns golden brown. This enhances the flavor.
2. Adding Milk and Sugar
- Once the khoya is roasted well, add milk and sugar to it. Mix thoroughly.
- Cook the mixture on medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
3. Adding Cardamom Powder
- Now, add cardamom powder to the mixture and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes until the mixture thickens.
4. Cooling Down
- Once the mixture is thick, remove it from heat and let it cool down. You can keep it at room temperature for some time.
5. Shaping the Peda
- When the mixture has cooled down, grease your palms with a little ghee and take small portions of the mixture to form smooth balls (pedas).
- You can shape them as per your preference. If desired, you can garnish the top with chopped nuts.
6. Setting and Serving
- Place the prepared pedas on a plate and let them set for a while.
