As the Chhath festival approaches, the citizens of Jamshedpur have embraced a unique way to promote voter awareness by using the traditional “soop” (winnowing basket) as a symbol to encourage voting. This initiative aligns with the Election Commission of India’s SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) program, aiming to increase voter turnout in the upcoming elections.
District Commissioner of Jamshedpur recently shared a social media post emphasizing the importance of voting as a family activity. The post appeals to all eligible voters to visit their designated polling booths on November 13 and cast their votes, reinforcing the idea of responsible civic engagement.
This campaign is also supported by the Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, who continues to promote inclusive and widespread voter participation across the state.
