The Seventh East Singhbhum District Volleyball League began today at the Tata Motors Volleyball Court, Telco, with matches set to continue for the next five days. A total of nine men’s teams and five women’s teams are competing in this highly anticipated tournament.

Participating Teams

In the men’s category, the competing teams include defending champions Mangal Singh Club, Sonari Sporting Club, Tata Steel Training Center, Bajrang Sporting Club, Tinplate Volleyball Club, Bhagat Singh Club, Turamdih Volleyball Club, Gulmohar Club Telco, and Sankosai Mango.

The women’s category features Kerala Public School, Bhagat Singh Sporting Club, Tata Steel Training Center, and two teams from Sankosai Mango.

Inauguration of the Tournament

The tournament was inaugurated by Vivek Kumar, an official from Tata Motors, who met the players and declared the event open. The first day of matches saw exciting and competitive gameplay in both categories.

First-Day Match Highlights

In the men’s category, defending champions Mangal Singh Club defeated Sankosai Mango 2-0 (25/16, 25/22) in the opening match. Sonari Sporting Club secured a comfortable win over Gulmohar Telco (25/15, 25/08), while Tata Steel Training Center triumphed over Bhagat Singh Sporting Club (25/08, 25/21).

In the women’s category, Sankosai Mango dominated Tata Steel Training Center with a 25/10, 25/13 victory, and Kerala Public School defeated Bhagat Singh Sporting Club 25/4, 25/17.

Tournament Format

Women’s matches will be played in a round-robin league format.

In the men’s category, teams will compete in league matches, followed by Super League matches among the pool winners.

The matches are being officiated by Sunil Kumar Roy, Amrik Singh, Dhanranjan Sharma, J Arun Murthy, Rajeshwar Gupta, Arshad Ali, and Hare Ram Ananto Santra.

With intense competition on the first day, the tournament promises to be an exhilarating sporting event for players and fans alike.
