On October 25, 2024, the Supreme Court ordered the Gujarat government not to transfer lands in Gir Somnath district where demolitions of religious structures had allegedly occurred without due process.

The decision followed a plea from the Auliya-e-Deen Committee, which argued that these lands, containing Muslim places of worship and graveyards, were historically Waqf property. Although the court declined the committee’s interim relief request, it directed the government to retain possession of the land until the next hearing on November 11.
