The political storm surrounding the violence during the survey of the Jama Masjid in Sambhal has intensified. On Friday, the Supreme Court directed the lower court in Sambhal not to issue any orders regarding the survey of the Mughal-era mosque. It also instructed the Uttar Pradesh government to maintain peace and harmony in the violence-hit city.
Amid this controversy, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti made a strong statement. She expressed concerns about the ongoing developments, stating, “It seems now temples will be sought inside Muslim homes. These actions are steering the country toward destruction, shaking the foundation of India built by leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.”
The issue continues to spark debates across political and social spheres, raising questions about communal harmony and governance.
