According to Afghan media, this assignment is significant as it represents the Taliban’s initial step in establishing official representation within India.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Kamil’s appointment, with the Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reporting it on Monday through anonymous sources. The report stated, “He is currently in Mumbai, where he is fulfilling his responsibilities as a representative of the Islamic Emirate.”
