Intense cross-border hostilities continued on Saturday as Pakistani forces launched missile attacks targeting key Indian military installations, including Jammu Air Base, Pathankot Air Base, and Srinagar. Explosions were heard across the region, prompting an immediate military response from Indian forces.

According to official sources, the Indian Army successfully intercepted multiple Pakistani drone attacks, averting further damage. In retaliatory strikes, the Indian military destroyed several Pakistani bunkers and forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC).

However, the conflict has taken a heavy toll. Five individuals, including a senior Indian officer, were killed in the Pakistani assault. Among the deceased is Raj Kumar Thappa, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri.

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

“A tragic loss from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service. Just yesterday, he was accompanying the Deputy Chief Minister on a district tour and participated in an online meeting chaired by me. Today, his residence was shelled by Pakistan, resulting in his death. Words fail to express my grief and shock over this devastating loss. May his soul rest in peace.”

The situation remains tense as security forces stay on high alert across Jammu & Kashmir. Air defense systems and ground units have been reinforced amid fears of further escalation.
