After being closed for nearly four years, the mill is set to reopen on December 20, 2024. The reopening is expected to benefit thousands of farmers and workers in the region. The mill has the capacity to crush around 15 to 20 lakh quintals of sugarcane, which could generate payments of approximately ₹80 crore to sugarcane farmers during the 2024-25 crushing season.
The mill was acquired by Nirani Sugars Limited, which plans to modernize its operations. This is part of the company’s larger strategy to expand its footprint in India’s sugar industry. The reopening is being celebrated as a significant step toward revitalizing the economy of the region, providing employment opportunities, and ensuring better income for local farmers.
