Srinagar (J&K), May 15, 2025: In a major counter-terrorism operation, security forces neutralized three terrorists in an early morning encounter on Thursday in Tral, Awantipora region of Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources linked with the army, one of the slain militants has been identified as top commander Asif Sheikh.
The three terrorists were reportedly part of the list of 14 wanted militants released by the government after the recent Pahalgam attack. While official confirmation of their deaths is still awaited, sources indicate their identities match those on the list.
This is the second major encounter in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three days. On May 13, three terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter in Keller, Shopian district. A large cache of weapons was also recovered from Keller on Wednesday.
Operation Sindoor: Indian Air Force Strikes Key Pakistani Airbases
In a related defense development, the Central Government on Wednesday revealed that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully jammed Chinese defense systems and destroyed Pakistan’s Noor Khan and Rahim Yar Khan airbases in just 23 minutes. The Indian defense systems reportedly neutralized key Pakistani weaponry during the operation.
