In a significant move to enhance safety and convenience for women, the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission has issued new guidelines regarding pink and ladies’ toilets at public places. The commission has mandated that these toilets must remain open at all times and have female staff on duty.

Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan highlighted the recurring complaints from across the state. Women reported finding government-built pink toilets locked, causing inconvenience, especially in places like bus stands and markets. Additionally, the presence of male staff in these facilities made women uncomfortable.

Taking these concerns seriously, the Women’s Commission has directed the Transport Department, Urban Development Department, and local bodies to ensure that all pink toilets remain accessible and are staffed by women to provide a safe and comfortable environment.

This initiative marks a step forward in addressing women’s hygiene and safety concerns in Uttar Pradesh.
