YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, known for her travel vlogs under the channel “Travel with Jo”, has been arrested by Haryana Police on charges of espionage under the Official Secrets Act.
According to preliminary reports, Malhotra allegedly shared sensitive national information with Pakistan’s intelligence agency (ISI). Authorities claim she visited Pakistan in 2023, where she established connections with ISI agents. After returning to India, she is suspected of maintaining contact and passing on confidential data.
One of her alleged contacts, Ehsan-ur-Rahim, a Pakistani High Commission official in India, was expelled by the Indian government for suspected espionage activities just days before Malhotra’s arrest.
Police have seized her electronic devices and are currently examining digital records. The case has sparked nationwide concern over the potential misuse of social media by foreign intelligence. In response, state authorities in other regions, including Odisha, have begun examining the backgrounds and activities of local content creators.
Jyoti Malhotra is presently in police custody as the investigation continues.
