Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked during a burglary at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, in the early hours of January 16, 2025. The intruder gained access to the building, reportedly with assistance from someone familiar with the household staff.

The attack occurred on the 11th floor of the building, where Khan and house staff attempted to confront the intruder. Khan sustained six stab wounds, including two near his spine. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where emergency surgery was performed to remove a knife lodged near his spinal cord and to repair damage to spinal fluid. Doctors have confirmed he is now in stable condition and out of danger.

During the confrontation, Khan’s younger son Jeh’s nanny was also injured. Other family members, including Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their children, were unharmed.

The Mumbai Police detained a suspect on January 17. CCTV footage from the building showed a man fleeing the scene and later near Bandra railway station, where he allegedly changed clothes to avoid detection. Police teams have been analyzing technical data and using informers to trace the accused.

The incident has raised concerns over security in high-profile residential areas of Mumbai. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities exploring possible inside assistance in the break-in.
