The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season with immediate effect, citing escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. The decision follows a series of security concerns, including the abandonment of a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala due to a power outage amid rising regional conflict

So far, 58 matches have been completed in IPL 2025, including the abandoned fixture in Dharamshala. Twelve league matches remain, scheduled to be played across various cities including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The playoffs are set to take place in Hyderabad and Kolkata, pending the announcement of the new schedule.

The BCCI has emphasized that the players’ safety is of utmost importance and that the decision to suspend the tournament was made in the best interest of all stakeholders. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholder

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League has relocated its remaining fixtures to the UAE due to similar security concerns.
