Case Filed Over Attempt to Conduct Ballot Paper Voting in Solapur Village

Maharashtra : In a rare incident, authorities have registered a case against over 200 individuals from Markarwadi village near Solapur, Maharashtra, for attempting to conduct voting through ballot papers instead of using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). 

Reportedly, villagers expressed distrust in the EVM system and planned to carry out voting using ballot papers. However, administrative intervention prevented the move, ensuring adherence to the standardized election process. 

The case highlights concerns around EVMs and the need for continued efforts to build public trust in the electronic voting process. Authorities are investigating the incident and have reiterated the importance of following lawful procedures during elections.
