Highlighting Infosys’s focus on inclusivity and gender sensitivity, Mamata praised the company for maintaining 40% female workforce representation and offering progressive facilities like a crèche and ‘Mom’s Nest.’
The Chief Minister emphasized West Bengal’s progressive IT policies, including the Broadband Policy (2020), Data Centre Policy (2021), and Cable Landing Station Policy (2023), which have catalyzed growth in the state’s IT and manufacturing sectors. She noted that Kolkata’s Silicon Valley Hub is home to 11 upcoming data centers, and the state hosts over 2,200 thriving IT companies.
Additionally, Mamata spotlighted the state’s inclusive IT efforts, which have led to the establishment of 22 IT parks across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, providing opportunities for local talent and entrepreneurs.
She expressed confidence that Infosys’s presence in Kolkata will attract more leading IT firms and invited professionals to enjoy the city’s festive Park Street lights and celebrations this season.
