MLA Jayaram is being trolled on social media after purchasing a Scorpio SUV, as he had previously made a strong statement during the first session of the Sixth Assembly, declaring that he would not accept any MLA allowances. He had even advised fellow legislators to forgo official residences in favor of quarters and suggested that all MLAs should travel to the Assembly by public buses like ordinary citizens.

However, his own words have now become a headache for him. When questioned about the purchase of the Scorpio, he issued a statement explaining that he had to buy the vehicle in his name to be eligible for the allowance. This has led to further criticism, with people questioning why he initially advised legislators to take buses and where he got the down payment for the vehicle.

Before addressing the controversy, Jayaram made a major announcement—he pledged to donate 75% of his February and March salaries to students in Dumri who rank in the top 10 of the Matric and Inter exams. While this initiative to support students is commendable, it raises another question: how much will each student actually receive?
