Nepal’s Prime Minister, K.P. Sharma Oli, is set to visit Beijing, China, from December 2 to 5.

This will be his first official visit to a neighboring country during his current term. Breaking with tradition, Oli has chosen China over #India as his first destination, signaling a shift in Nepal’s diplomatic priorities and a focus on strengthening ties with China.

According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. During the trip, Prime Minister Oli will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and hold bilateral talks with Premier Li. The discussions will aim to enhance cooperation and foster stronger relations between the two countries.

Historically, most Nepali Prime Ministers have prioritized India for their inaugural foreign visits. However, in 2008, former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) also made China his first destination. Oli’s decision reflects Nepal’s growing partnership with China and efforts to deepen bilateral ties.
