Political tensions in Bihar continue to rise as the controversy over reservation intensifies. On Tuesday, the Bihar Legislative Council witnessed a heated session, with former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and ruling Chief Minister Nitish Kumar engaging in a dramatic verbal clash.
The issue at hand is the inclusion of 65% reservation in the 9th Schedule, which has sparked strong opposition from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). RJD MLAs, dressed in green T-shirts as a mark of protest, created a ruckus inside the House, raising slogans against the government. Leading the charge was Rabri Devi, who was at the forefront of the demonstration.
During the chaos, CM Nitish Kumar took a sharp dig at Rabri Devi, saying:
“This poor girl doesn’t know anything. When the husband got rejected, she was made CM. Does this make any sense?”
The statement has further fueled political tensions, with RJD leaders calling it an insult to Rabri Devi and accusing Nitish Kumar of misogyny and arrogance.
Meanwhile, the RJD has vowed to continue its protest from the House to the streets, demanding the inclusion of the reservation bill in the 9th Schedule to provide constitutional protection to the quota system.
As Bihar’s political landscape heats up, the war of words between Nitish Kumar and RJD is only expected to intensify.
