In Bihar’s Vaishali district, all Revenue Department employees, including Circle Officers (COs), have launched a protest against the District Magistrate (DM), alleging disrespectful behavior towards a female staff member during a review meeting. The protest escalated after the DM reportedly used offensive language towards female employees, which led the department’s staff to go on collective leave, bringing all revenue-related work in the district to a halt.
The issue gained momentum after two employees from the Hajipur Sadar Circle Office were detained on the DM’s orders, only to be released after a few hours. The DM allegedly used derogatory terms, including “useless” and “sala Bihari,” sparking widespread anger among officials across the district.
The protesting employees accused the DM of having a “colonial mentality” and cited a similar incident involving DM Yashpal Meena in Nawada, which had also led officials there to demand either a collective leave or transfer. Female employees expressed particular distress, claiming that extended working hours were straining their personal lives, with some cases reportedly leading to family issues, including marital strains and divorce.
