In a disturbing case from Bokaro (Jharkhand), police have solved the murder of 30-year-old Dhananjay Gupta, whose body was found on the night of May 4, 2025, near Govind Talab in the Khedadih area. He was a Toto (e-rickshaw) driver living with his in-laws.
Initially, it appeared to be a case of robbery and murder — his Toto vehicle was found nearby with the battery missing, and his body bore multiple deep stab wounds.
However, during investigation, CCTV footage and phone records revealed that Dhananjay had gone out to drop a passenger after receiving a phone call on May 4 — but never returned. His father-in-law had reported him missing.
Eventually, the police uncovered a shocking twist:
Dhananjay’s own elder brother, Ajay Gupta, had paid a contract killer ₹1.4 lakh (~$1,700 USD) to murder him.
The motive? Ajay had a one-sided romantic interest in his sister-in-law Kajal. However, Kajal was allegedly in a relationship with Dhananjay — his younger brother. This caused deep resentment in Ajay, ultimately leading him to plan and finance the murder.
Ajay Gupta has been arrested, and further investigation is underway
