Suspended IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan, currently imprisoned in connection with an illegal land transaction case, faced a major setback as his bail and discharge petitions were both rejected by a special PMLA court in Ranchi. The court of Special Judge Yogesh Kumar dismissed the petitions on Thursday after reserving its order on December 9.

The case involves the illegal sale and purchase of 4.55 acres of army-occupied land located on Bariatu Road. Additionally, the court rejected his discharge plea in the Cheshire Home land scam. Ranjan had filed the bail petition on November 24, seeking relief, but has been in jail since May 4, 2023.

This marks another significant development in the legal proceedings against the officer.
